ASWM Presents MatriFocus

From May 2001 to November 2009, the Goddess-oriented web journal, MatriFocus, was published by Sage (Starwalker) Collins in Madison, Wisconsin. Co-edited with her wife and creative partner, the poet Farrell Collins, this outstanding web magazine by and for Goddess Women was published four times a year on the cross quarter holidays. It featured foundational scholarship, creative works, and perspectives from Second Wave feminism. Artists and groundbreaking writers like Patricia Monaghan, Johanna Stuckey, Max Dashu, Anne Key, and Dawn Work MaKinne contributed. Each issue featured a particular Goddess and provided an excellent source of the arts and articles in the categories of Thealogy, Scholarship, Feminism, the Sacred Earth, Cosmology, Seasonal Celebrations, and Queer Spirituality.

We are all aware that women’s scholarly work in any medium may be ephemeral, hard to find, or forgotten. One of ASWM’s missions is to make women’s work more widely available and prevent the loss of foundational scholarship. We are proud to provide a home for MatriFocus articles to be available in a scholarly context.
