2027 Call for Proposals: “Wisdom in the Thin Places”
“Wisdom in the Thin Places: Thinking and talking about the liminal”
ASWM Biennial Conference, April 8-10 2027
Philadelphia Pennsylvania Historic District
Liminal knowledge arises from experiencing the “in-between” states, those dynamic, relational spaces where realities connect. Across cultures past and present, liminality provides an entry point to understanding sacred stories about women and cultivating meanings for living on Earth. Oracles, labyrinths, dreamwork, sacred ceremonies and rituals, astronomy, weaving, divination, dance, and related practices become sources of cultural knowledge. Stories of the “in-between” emerge as a way of knowing and situating oneself within a mythological ecosystem of human and more-than-human relationships.
This conference will explore myths, sacred stories, transformative moments, and ecological discoveries arising from the “in-between” sources of knowledge.
For the 2027 conference, ASWM has one scholarship available for a graduate student whose proposal is accepted and who is presenting in a field related to Women’s Spirituality. The Dr. Mara Lynn Keller Graduate Student Conference Participation Scholarship is made possible by a generous bequest opioneering scholar, teacher, and visionary Dr. Mara Lynn Keller,
