We are surrounded by the elements of nature that we can perceive, and also to those that are invisible to the eye. Ancestral mothers, even in times of unsettling migratins, carried and transmitted principles to their descendants that can be recaptured. We can find deep spiritual connections with other-than-human beings. We may come to appreciate that shamanic or “paranormal” experiences are among the most normal of occurrences, opening our minds to living more comfortably in liminal space.

Latonia “Hummingbird” Dixon, R.N. Ph.D., is a published poet, spiritual teacher, light language healer, a Mastering Alchemy graduate, a mythologist scholar, a doctoral candidate, a ret. registered nurse, and a United States Army veteran. She loves to travel around the world studying diverse mythologies and traditions. Lastly, she believes in thinking from the heart and speaking from the soul.
Grace Nono is an ethnomusicologist and scholar of Philippine shamanism, a singer of mostly sung oral traditions, and the President of the Tao Foundation for Culture and Arts, a non-profit organization dedicated to cultural preservation and environmental conservation. Grace lives in the Philippines with her daughter Tao, their cats and dogs, and fellow human sojourners.
Karen Mary Walasek’s relationship with the more than human world interweaves throughout her creative, practical and scholarly life. A Polish American shepherd, feltmaker, midwife, mother, grandmother, pisankarka and scholar, she received an MFA in creative writing; interdisciplinary arts from Goddard College and earned her PhD in Sustainability Education at Prescott College in May 2024, incorporating a Slavic econarrative with cultural reclamation and matriarchal land connections. She co-writes with husband Ron Heacock under the alias, R. K. Hillhouse.
