On Thursday, April 8, we will have a special backstage tour of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. Housing over 1.3 million artifacts, the museum features one of the most comprehensive collections of Middle and Near-Eastern art in the world. It is referred to as a ” hidden gem” with galleries organized by geography and culture and including unique and innovative displays.

Our ASWM tour includes a special “backstage” presentation on the development of the exceptional, highly collaborative Native America exhibition with curator Megan Kassabaum and one of the Native American collaborators (via zoom). We will also experience the Museum’s outstanding “Queens, Warriors, and Archaeologists” tour of the remarkable women featured throughout the galleries.Â
The tour cost of $85 includes travel by bus, a box lunch, Museum admission, and fees for both tours. Registered participants may choose to add this tour at a later date, space permitting.
We will meet at 11:30 in the hotel on Thursday April 8, and return by 5:00 pm.
